1.Your budget went as expected and along with your contingency purchases.
2. Money sent to Eric.
3. Your grandson returned home rather than go to Sparks, you sent a letter claiming the roads was busy.
4. Yorkshire. The Monk does not fall under Lady Hispanus’s rule just because they are related, he is independent and only subject to the Archbishop and the Pope.

As to your letter, the Abbot writes back.

“Lord Linnuis,

Your concern for the safety of us humble monks is commendable. We are indeed concerned about the pagan sack of London, it was a great tragedy which shook not just us but all Christians on these islands to their very core. It lightens our hearts though to see peace return, the relics be released and the hundreds of captured clergy set free. It seems to me that Jesus must have touched the Saxon Dux’s heart to bring about such a generous settlement. It is quite a relief for us humble monks to know we can continue or devotions in safety.

As to your concerns about neighboring lords plotting against us, I simply cannot believe any good Christian would plot to attack Church property. The very idea is simply preposterous, such a move would not only damn their souls to an eternity of torment but also invite divine retribution here on earth. No, I cannot believe any Lord would be so foolish as to invite divine wrath upon his head.

I remain however ever grateful for your pledges to defend us. I am confident your efforts will not be needed but it shows you have a good Christian heart that you would make the offer.

Abbot Hispanus

5. The Tournament was cancelled for lack of participation.
6. Your swore loyalty to the Imperator, there was no wording change necessary nobody swears loyalty to the Regent.
7. Tewdric is now a fosterling of the Thetfords, he and the Imperator seem to have taken to each other.
8. King Bran has agreed to allow you to marry Brighid. You are now man and wife. She wont leave East Anglia though. He isn’t ready to marry your daughter to his son though.
9. The King of the Scots seems bored with your clever talk of hypotheticals and obvious scheming to advance your House’s position. Sorry no amount of intrigue is going to make that look like anything other than scheming. Eventually he stops you and lays it out for you. He has no love for the Regent, he’s fought her in the past, she’s arrogant and he wishes she treated his daughter better. But she gets the job done, she got the job done when Steapa II was a boy and she was regent and she’s getting it done now. You say she’s incapable of gaining the support of the British lords for the Imperator, but he just watched 4 lords including yourself swear loyalty to Steapa while she was Regent so that argument is a bust. Sure there are scheming vassals such as yourself who would prefer to have her job, but every ruler deals with plotting vassals. Further she was able to negotiate a peace with the Saxons which binds them to the Imperator’s future and divides their forces should a war renew. He may not like the woman and he has his issues with her but shes doing a good enough job. Leaving that aside, he asks how do you think he would replace her? He’s a foreign king with an army that’s leaving shortly, he’s supposed to what kill his mother in law and announce you as her replacement? Why? That would only lead to instability, the Acaddon twins would definitely not take kindly to that and even if they didn’t rebel against him they would be so busy trying to kill you they wouldn’t be able to help him against his own scheming vassals in the north. Even if you won, what is the point? How would it benefit him or the Imperator? All he wants is a quiet period for his grandson to grow up and take the reins of power. He fails to see how rocking what seems to be a successful boat benefits his goal of stability for Steapa until he comes of age. He concedes he’s quite sure you would prefer to be Regent and it would make you happy, but he is more interested in his grandson than in promoting you. He also comments that you should show more gratitude

The King softens and says he likes you and he is glad to join your houses through your marriage to his daughter. And if the Regent started jeopardizing the Imperator’s future he would be forced to act, but right now there is no reason to be unhappy with her, other than shes kind of a bitch and he isn’t going to put his grandson’s Empire at risk because he doesn’t like someone. You should even be unhappy with her, she made you a princeps didn’t she?

10. You find the Acaddons pleasant enough company and they seem to like you as well. Britannicus is eager to join the attack on Westmoreland, he says he would be willing to commit a force of men at arms, if there was a public guarantee that the taxes would be lowered to 15%. Jodocus seems keen on the idea as well, he doubts that the Regent would have any objections but also doubts she would want to send any troops.

Neasa Acaddon attends also, she seems pretty ignored by the rest of the family. She usually sits alone and ends up by herself. You find Jodocus appealing, he seems a courageous warrior with little guile.

11. Both caravan raids went off perfectly, you took negligible loses.
